The Ocean est maître du Temps et de l'Histoire : le collectif avait annoncé comme une prophétie la sortie de Phanerozoic II: Mesozoic | Cenozoic pour 2020 et rien, pas même le cataclysme viral, ne l'aura empêché de le sortir en 2020. Mais The Ocean est aussi maître du post-metal : cet album nous fait traverser avec virtuosité le règne des dinosaures, leur extinction (avec tant d'émotions !), le chaos puis l'apparition de ces étranges créatures qui pensaient contrôler le soleil... If there ever was a timely album to sum up the United States in 2020, this is it. Elements of black metal, hymnals, call-and-response, sampled news audio, and Manuel's amazing voice come together to form a beautifully tortured sound. The term 'avant-garde' is rightfully earned with every moment of this EP.
